Confirmation, Christenings, Weddings and Funerals

Growing in Christian faith and marking life events

We offer a range of opportunities to explore Christian faith. Confirmation and discipleship courses are regularly offered. Please contact the parish office for further details.

As the much loved Parish Church in the centre of our community, marking the stages of life is central to our mission in Dorking. Christenings, Banns announcements, Wedding and Funeral arrangements can be made by clicking the links below.

Christenings

We are delighted that you’re considering having a Christening or Baptism service at St Martin's. A Christening is the sacrament in which water is poured over the head of an adult or child, God’s grace is imparted to them, and they are incorporated into the Christian church. In a baptism service for children, the parents and godparents  make promises to support the child's faith journey.

We want to give you a warm welcome and to do all we can to make the occasion enjoyable and meaningful for you and your family. If you would like to arrange a Christening, please complete the form by clinking below:

Weddings

Congratulations!

Christian marriage is a sacramental rite of the church that brings a man and a woman together in a life long relationship which is the foundation of family life. This relationship supports the couple through prosperity and adversity, and provides an environment where the family can grow together in faith.

We are delighted that you are considering a wedding in church. Arranging a wedding is an exciting time, but it can also be a bit daunting. We would be delighted to help with the plans for your special day, so whether you've got firm plans or just want to talk through your initial thoughts, we're here to help. We ensure that couples who come through our doors know that the love and blessing that comes from God can be part of their relationship.

If you would like to talk to us about a Wedding in St Martin's, please complete the form by clinking below:

Funerals

A funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. As well as being a time to say goodbye to our loved ones and express our grief, it is also the opportunity for friends and family to remember  them and give thanks for the life that has ended and commend the person into God’s keeping.

At St Martin's we are here to offer you prayer and support during this difficult time, and want to enable a funeral service which reflects the spirituality of your loved one.

Your funeral director may contact the church direct or click the form below to contact us directly:

Location

Finding St Martin's

The church is located right in the heart of Dorking just north of the High Street.  On foot the easiest approach from the High Street is via the passageway next to Boots Opticions.  Vehicle access for permit holders and deliveries only is via Church St; all other vehicles should use the public car park of St Martin's Walk which is reached via Mill Lane (immediately opposite the White Horse Hotel in the middle of the town).

SATNAV

If setting a SATNAV in your car please use Mill Lane or postcode RH4 1UX as the destination; this will take you straight to the St Martins Walk car park and not down the very tight and congested Church St where it is often difficult to turn and there is very limited parking.
